Over 4 difficult decades of battling with poor eyesight, I have had all sorts of optometrists, eye specialists and ophthalmologists attend to my eyes. I have ALWAYS had to settle for less…and always been gaslighted into accepting less than quality and less than service. But….I was finally referred to Herman by a family member and was told that Herman is the best that there is. I was nervous because over 4 decades I always thought I would get the best… I never did. On the day of my appointment, Herman took the most careful, considerate and patient care I have EVER experienced before! He took a few hours of careful testing to make sure that I was listened to, and diagnosed with the best techniques and technology that I have yet to come across, by any other optometrist. I arrived with a very complicated problem, and to make matters worse; just prior to him; was attended to by 3 other corrupt optometrists that had lied to me about my eyesight and eye tests. I was a “cash cow” to them. BUT NOT to Herman. He was different! I saw the determination in him. He would NOT give up until he came to the exact and most comfortable eye test suitable for my eyes! No optometrist has EVER been this diligent, patient, kind or caring - ever - before. Herman is a “needle in the haystack”. Herman is the one in a “billion” and although this review may seem exaggerated to you if you reading it… then you are very welcome to contact me personally so that I can carry on a few more hours, verbally describing his excellence! Herman DESERVES his OWN clinic because under his care, he has the ability to change MANY, MANY people’s lives for the better! He certainly has for mine! I feel that I am now able to live my life in ways many, many people take for granted. I feel as though I have just been born and am so excited to experience my life in ways better than before and can go into writing those books because I simply…. am able to see… What a Blessing both him and Marisca are. Marisca kept me updated, informed, comfortable from beginning to end. Nothing was too difficult for her and no question too much. She even helped me pick my frames. I took so much of their time, yet not once did I ever feel like I was a burden to them or that I was asking too many questions! Having eyes tested is not only physically taxing but also emotionally draining because it’s exhausting trying to find the right person to help. Not being able to see is not a joke. It’s exhausting because not being prescribed the correct lenses means you cannot see! By Herman Smit Optometrists, not only did I qualify for a special, I was able to get the very best Seiko (Japanese) lenses and imported frames for a fraction of the price and was ensured I would be wearing the highest of quality. Basically I paid for one and got 2! I now wear both sight and reading glasses, the most modern, (limited edition worldwide name brand) fashionable imported frames and the best of quality lenses that other optometrists DO NOT even have access to. Other optometrists charge more, for cheaper, local (rubbish) quality. I pray that both Herman and Marisca’s every desire be met over an abundantly they can ever imagine BECAUSE they have changed my life in ways one short review is unable to describe… If I could give a higher rating than 5 stars I ABSOLUTELY WOULD!!
